DSP Appreciation Week- Aziza Zahran

“I like the kids I work with. They’re really outgoing. It’s fun!” – Aziza Zahran

 

Aziza Zahran is about to celebrate a big milestone: 5 years as a Direct Support Professional with AccessCNY! And according to Aziza, she’s just as excited about her job now as she was on her first day. In her own words, “This is such a cool job. [AccessCNY] is a great agency and I love working here!” Aziza particularly loves her co-workers: “We really care. It’s not just a job.”

Unsurprisingly, Aziza says that the best part of her job is the kids that she works with. They are funny and outgoing, and according to Aziza, there are few things better than getting to be there when they finally reach a personal goal. Working with kids also provides a lot of exciting variety in Aziza’s schedule. For example, she is currently preparing to help support a participant in taking horseback riding lessons. Because Aziza doesn’t know how to ride a horse herself (and is in fact a little nervous around horses!), she is excited to take advantage of this unexpected learning opportunity. In her words, “We grow with them [the participants]. Sometimes we don’t realize it, but we do.”
