Exploring Your World

Exploring Your World: A Preschool for Everyone

Our preschool, Exploring Your World (EYW), offers a wide variety of developmentally appropriate learning activities addressing the individual strengths and learning needs of all children.

For over 30 years, our inclusionary, multi-cultural, and family-oriented program has provided a developmentally appropriate curriculum designed for children. We offer a uniquely designed program that implements a balance between structured learning experiences and play. Our belief in a whole child approach to teaching and learning enriches the program.

Curriculum

EYW’s curriculum is focused on preparing students for kindergarten, with attention to New York State preschool core curriculum standards while supporting all areas of child development, including:

  • Language
  • Cognition
  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Sensory integration
  • Social and emotional needs

Each day provides opportunities for art, music, literacy, free play, gym/playground time, and creative activities. A nutritious snack is also provided. Daily activities promote growth in all areas of child development.

Toddler Program

EYW is one of the few local preschools with a program designed specifically for toddlers. Serving children between the ages of 18 months and 3 years, our program provides a balance of structured learning time and play, encouraging social skills and other areas of development. Toddler classes are 2.5 hour sessions, with morning and afternoon options two or three days per week.

Preschool Program

EYW offers several classrooms for children 3-5 years old, to help prepare for kindergarten. Class sizes are small with no more than five children to one adult. Classes are available two, three, or five days a week.

Summer Program

EYW offers a six-week summer program for all students beginning each July.

Day Care

EYW is a licensed day care provider through the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. Full day childcare (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) is available from September through June for a minimal fee for students enrolled in a full-day educational program.
