AccessCNY Announces Dr. Nienke Dosa as New Medical Director
(April 13, 2021) AccessCNY is excited to announce Dr. Nienke Dosa, MD, MPH as the agency’s new Medical Director. In this role Dr. Dosa will provide medical consultation to all AccessCNY programs, as well as oversee the agency’s clinical therapy services. Her work will particularly focus on maintaining high quality services for people with disabilities, while prioritizing infection control and prevention.
Dr. Dosa possesses extensive experience working with individuals with disabilities in medical settings. She is currently the medical director of Upstate University Hospital’s Spina Bifida clinic. Additionally, she is an active Professor of Pediatrics at Upstate University Hospital, specializing in neurodevelopmental disabilities.
“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic AccessCNY has continued to provide vital services to some of the most vulnerable people in our community,” said Paul Joslyn, AccessCNY Executive Director. “With studies showing that individuals with developmental disabilities are at higher risk of contracting and dying from COVID-19, proper medical guidance has never been more important. Dr. Dosa’s extensive medical experience and investment in the health and well-being of people with disabilities makes her the best person to advise us during this difficult time and in the future. We look forward to this new partnership with Dr. Dosa and the opportunity for future collaboration in creating a community where all people belong.”
“I have partnered with AccessCNY for many years and am excited for this next chapter in our relationship,” said Dr. Dosa following her appointment. “I admire AccessCNY’s passion and commitment to those they serve and look forward to enhancing coordination between medical care and community-based services for those with disabilities. We are already working on ways to link AccessCNY’s TRAID loan closet program with Upstate’s Golisano Center for Special Needs AT Village initiative. Our shared goal is to make it easier for kids with disabilities to get the adaptive technology they need to do the things they like to do. ”
Dr. Dosa assumed the role of Medical Director after being appointed by the AccessCNY Board of Directors in February.
