BFair2DirectCare Rally A Success, Gained News Coverage
AccessCNY and Arc of Onondaga joined forces on December 20th to show lawmakers in Albany how important the #bfair2directcare campaign is in Central New York. Direct Support Professionals, parents and program participants from both agencies gave a powerful message as they told personal stories of what direct care means for them.
Paul Joslyn, Executive Director of AccessCNY, also spoke to the crowd. His message was clear, “DSPs do more than the minimum each day. They deserve a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work.” Joslyn also explained, “In working with our community’s most vulnerable citizens, those folks need to be paid, and paid a living wage. Today, people in fast food make more than people who have others’ lives in their hands. That’s just not right.”
