Tara’s Story – Supported Employment

After the Disability Mentoring Day opening breakfast, Tara had a job shadow with a local business that focuses on children’s entertainment and activities. Why?

“I like working with kids. That’s something I would like to do. I think I am going to apply for a job there now.”

In the short term, she wants to get a job, get along with her coworkers and work with kids. But Tara has an ambitious set of long term goals.

“One day, I would like to own my own business. A cleaning business, where I help make sure that businesses have healthy environments. I love to clean! And clean environments are important for everyone. It helps people be stay healthy and not get sick.”
